My own father smashed a brick into my face because my fiancé refused to leave me for my younger sister

articleUseronAugust 17, 2026

Dr. Adrian Vale, chief executive of Virex Medical.

Armed men appeared behind him.

He smiled.

“Thank you for bringing me the final piece.”

Wyatt moved in front of me.

Vale sighed.

“You were always sentimental, Wyatt.”

“You’re not touching her.”

“On the contrary,” Vale replied. “Sadie has belonged to Virex since infancy.”

I stepped beside Wyatt.

“No one owns me.”

Vale’s smile widened.

“Your grandfather said the same thing.”

Then Margaret raised a gun and pointed it at us.

I stared at her in disbelief.

Wyatt whispered, “Mom?”

Her hand did not shake.

“I’m sorry.”

Dr. Vale extended his hand.

“The girl, Margaret.”

She looked at me.

Tears filled her eyes.

Then she turned the gun—

and shot Dr. Vale in the chest.

PART 7

THE BETRAYAL THAT SAVED US ALL

For one suspended second, no one moved.

Dr. Vale looked down at the blood spreading across his white shirt.

Then chaos erupted.

Margaret fired again, striking one of the armed men in the shoulder. Walter dragged Melanie behind a fuel truck. Wyatt pushed me toward the jet stairs.

“Go!”

Gunfire thundered through the hangar.

Federal vehicles crashed through the side gate.

Detective Beckett emerged from the lead SUV with armed agents behind him.

Walter had never been rescuing us alone.

The entire escape had been a controlled operation designed to draw Vale into the open.

Margaret dropped her weapon and raised her hands.

Vale collapsed beside the jet.

As agents surrounded him, he laughed weakly.

“You think arresting me changes anything? Virex has laboratories in twelve countries.”

Federal Prosecutor Sloan entered behind Beckett.

“And we now have your recorded confession, financial records, attempted kidnapping, and armed assault.”

Vale’s face finally changed.

Walter tapped his jacket.

A microphone was clipped beneath the collar.

Every word in the hangar had been transmitted.

Melanie began laughing and crying at the same time.

“You staged another trap.”

Walter smiled.

“Your family has a talent for them.”

Vale survived the shooting.

By morning, he was under federal guard.

Virex executives across the country were arrested. Laboratories were seized. Hidden patient records were recovered.

My parents were charged not only with my assault, but with conspiracy, fraud, unlawful imprisonment, attempted murder, and involvement in Grandpa’s death.

The evidence became impossible to bury.

Yet the greatest battle remained.

What would happen to the treatment hidden inside my blood?

Governments wanted it.

Corporations wanted it.

Scientists argued that it could change medicine forever.

For weeks, I lived in a protected residence with Wyatt and Melanie while lawyers fought over my body as though I were property.

Wyatt gave me space.

He did not ask for forgiveness.

He did not touch me unless I reached for him first.

One evening, I found him sitting alone on the porch.

“You should hate me,” he said.

“I tried.”

“Did it work?”

“No.”

He looked at me.

“I would take back every lie if I could.”

“You cannot.”

“I know.”
